They renamed Africa Freedom Day "African Liberation Day" and changed its date to May 25th, and this day has helped raise social and political awareness in African communities worldwide. The day's purpose was to mark the liberation movement's progress annually and to symbolize the people of Africa's determination to free themselves from foreign domination and exploitation.
